Responsibilities:

  • To provide Engineering Design leadership and steer, guide and support in managing aspects of the Media and Broadcast areas; specifically in the design of layer 1, 2, 3 connectivity.
  • Ongoing & frequent collaboration with a wider team including operations, systems and customers.
  • Driving Transformation activities across the Business Unit – seeking positive outcomes from adoption of Agile methodologies and Automation of repeatable tasks.
  • Managing suppliers to understand their product capability and provide sign off for connection to the network.
  • To provide a mentoring-type role and be acknowledged as the Subject Matter Expert within Media and Broadcast on network solutions.
  • Makes expert recommendations to technical and business decision makers.
  • To continually drive for outstanding customer experience, and engender and lead an absolutely customer focused approach to doing business.
  • Provide Major bid and engineering support to Media and Broadcast Area and 3rd Line support of the Service and Network Platforms to Operations.
  • Working with wider BT teams such as procurement on RFI / RFPs for cost effective network solutions.

Requirements:

  • Ideally you will be from a Service provider or Fin-Tec background
  • Solid knowledge of IP, MPLS & Multicast technologies.
  • You will have had extensive hands-on experience of Cisco and/or Juniper network equipment.
  • You will have a proven track record of end to end Network Design and solutions – being able to understand existing network designs and customer solutions and evolving them based on bespoke requirements.
  • Knowledge of designing high availability network topologies to achieve the required diversity / separacy to meet the required SLA; understanding of the impact of a link failure on customer service; evaluation of supplier Ethernet product capabilities.
  • Proven ability to produce High level & Low level Design solutions.
  • Able to be a lead contributor individually and provide direction to others.
  • Experience of Cisco and/or Juniper networking equipment
  • Experience of designing carrier/service-provider IP networks.
  • Experience of leading RFPs, Vendor Selection and winning new business activities from a Design perspective.
  • Experience of designing high availability domestic and international networks
  • Preferable: Technical Experience in a TV/broadcast organisation.
  • Preferable: Ideally B.Eng / M.Eng Degree or equivalent industry experience
