Job Description

The Android Developer Relations Team works with external developers, writes code, creates content, grows communities, runs conferences and more. With a worldwide installed base of 2.5 billion devices, and an audience of millions of developers, we are growing our team to meet the new challenges facing current and future developers worldwide, building apps for mobile phones, tablets, devices and services, foldables, and other Android-powered devices.
Technical writers plan, create, and maintain educational content as an integral part of the engineering or user experience. The content is often in the form of documentation, but may also be UI text, sample code, videos, or other educational material. Regardless of the content medium, technical writers are distinguished by their abilities to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Organize existing documentation and identify information gaps. Edit, clarify, and provide peer reviews for documents written by teammates and non-writer contributors.
  • Work closely with product managers and software engineers to identify deliverables and develop plans for creating those deliverables.
  • Demonstrate technical writing skills through content reviews, editing, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Partner with Developer Relations Engineers and other stakeholders to deliver holistic experiences in which documents and other technical materials inform and compliment one another.
  • Create new or update existing, documentation about tooling and Application Programming
  • Interface used for developing and publishing Android apps.

Requirements:

  • Ability and interest in learning and explaining new technologies, especially related to Android.
  • Ability to establish relationships and alliances with engineering teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to research, develop, and test content independently.
  • Experience working with documentation sets written for developer audiences.
    Knowledge of Java or Kotlin.
