Position Title: Head of Journalism

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity at a pivotal time for the BBC. You will be instrumental in helping the BBC to deliver comedy & entertainment programming to BBC audiences across all its platforms (BBC1-4 and iPlayer) securing rights and managing risks across the portfolio of programmes.

Responsibilities:

  • Setting and maintaining production and editorial standards and taking responsibility for legal and compliance issues and ensuring that programmes meet the policies, priorities and standards of BBC News
  • Ensuring that budgets are observed and achieving value for money in the deployment of staff and resources
  • Finding and developing presenters and encouraging diversity
  • The role reports into the Executive News Editor for Global English Commissioning.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable understanding of, and interest in, international affairs.
  • Experience of managing a large multi-skilled team, with strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the audiences of Radio 4 and the World Service and the competitive markets in which they operate
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and developing and attracting diverse talent
