Job Description

The Workplace Operations Associate will help create and maintain a functional and welcoming employee experience at Tesla. The position involves all aspects of customer service and requires a professional positive attitude. This individual will perform a variety of ever-changing, daily hands-on tasks in partnership with various onsite teams and departments to ensure timely project completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides excellent customer service at all times and to all customers, whether internal or external.
  • Utilizes technical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills to accomplish tasks with minimal oversight or direction.
  • Follows proper safety procedures at all times and identifies workplace hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  • Utilizes digital project management software and communications platforms with team to determine and update daily priorities and tasks.
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, defined plans, and written/verbal instructions.
  • Completes tasks in timely manner and provides candid feedback.

Performs a variety of day-to-day tasks and projects across multiple disciplines including but not limited to:

  • Mail Operations – Daily sort and delivery of incoming mail at facility and inventory tracking therein.
  • Inventory Management – Performs regular inventory audits of both consumable inventory and fixed assets and communicates site needs to Supervisor/Coordinator for ordering. This includes general Workplace, culinary, and janitorial supplies and equipment.
  • Shipping & Receiving – Receive Workplace related shipments from shipping docks as well as prepare items for shipment out of factory.
  • Warehousing – Maintains Workplace warehouse spaces through inventory management, cleaning and organizing of spaces, and material movement to include safe and proper use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and compactors.
  • Event Support – Setup, staffing, and clean-up of events including but not limited to orientations, all-hands meetings, and all other onsite events. Directly partners with site leadership for events.
  • Site Repairs & Improvements – Performs various repairs and improvements to the site using power and hand tools. Examples could include door assembly repair, installing restroom fixtures, mounting hardware to walls, troubleshooting equipment such as floor scrubbers, and more. Assists leadership with 5S walks and area organizations.
  • Furniture Assembly – Builds and deploys furniture in office areas and in production floor bullpens such as desks, chairs, conference room tables, storage cabinets, bookcases, and more.
  • Cable Management – Performs various cable management tasks throughout the facility to ensure there aren’t any trip or power hazards and all desks display neat and clean cables.
  • Personnel Moves – Assists and leads execution of department/personnel moves throughout the facility and/or other Tesla facilities.
  • Vendor Relationships – Oversees third-party vendor contractors while they perform work onsite. Escorts through facility, assists with technical needs of visits, ensures proper safety protocols are always followed.
  • Projects – Assists in execution of projects to improve the facility in partnership with other departments (Facilities, Construction, etc). Continuously improves Workplace projects process creation, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Sanitization Protocols – Daily routes to ensure hand sanitizer refill stations are stocked for janitorial vendor, ensures all sanitizer wipe bucket stations are filled, and refills pump bags and buckets with sanitizer.
  • Signage – Creates and deploys Tesla signage throughout factory, both for monthly communications as well as whenever immediately needed by other departments.

Requirements:

  • Positive, proactive attitude and “can-do” mentality that is customer service oriented.
  • Ability to take direction with attention to detail and complete follow through.
  • Must have high degree of initiative, and the ability to work effectively both alone and with other people depending on the tasks at hand.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to professionally interact with all levels of management, our internal clients, and our vendors.
  • Ability to accept and integrate feedback from both management and clients.
  • Willingness to provide feedback, ideas, and best practices to management.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and eager to learn and try new tasks.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry or push up to 35lbs.
  • Experience and knowledge in using power tools, hand tools, self-propelled equipment, and related items.
  • Once hired, able to gain and maintain proper forklift certification through onsite training.
  • Availability to work weekends/nights as needed in order to meet schedule demand.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under constantly changing priorities and demands.
  • Ability to use computers for basic clerical work and become familiar with specific programs related to inventory management and project/task management.
